Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, scored his first Champions League goal of the season and provided an assist to steer Atalanta to an easy 3–0 win over German side Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday night, www.aclsports.com reports.
In one of the UEFA Champions League games decided on a goal-fest night at the Deutsche Bank Park, Lookman opened the scoring in the second half before turning provider for Ederson’s goal. Then Charles De Ketelaere finished off the game with a third goal for the Bergamo side in five minutes.
It was a tight first half between the two teams, but everything changed after the two sides emerged for the second half. Lookman finally opened the scoring on the hour mark, finishing off a well-placed delivery from Charles De Ketelaere to put the Italians in front.
Moments after his goal, the Super Eagles forward turned creator, sliding a clever pass through to Éderson, who made no mistake in extending the lead.
De Ketelaere rounded off Atalanta’s impressive display in the 65th minute, converting a well-constructed attack to ensure Frankfurt had no way back as the Italian side clinched their third European victory of the season.
With the win, Atalanta increased their points tally to 10 after five games, and they are ranked 10th on the log ahead of a big clash with Chelsea on Match Day 6.
For Lookman, the goal and assist against the Germans put his season return at two goals and one assist from 12 appearances in all competitions.
