Super Falcons and Pensacola FC striker, Uchenna Kanu has been named the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Women’s Player of the Year for 2019 following a record-breaking year in the USA.

Kanu has been in red-hot form for her school having emerged the all-time career leader with 157 goals, 51 assists and 366 points after her fourth year at the South Eastern University.

The fiery forward was also named in the NAIA All American team of the season following her 42 goals, 20 assists and 104 points haul this year.

Kanu brings the same commitment and hunger to the national team as she finished top scorer with 10 goals as the Super Falcons of Nigeria won her maiden WAFU Women’s Cup title in May after defeating the hosts, Cote d’Ivoire in the final.

She also featured for the reigning African Champions at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France subsequently in June as the country reached the Round of 16 for the first time in 20 years.
