Nigeria U23 side recorded an emphatic 5-0 win over Sudan on Tuesday evening at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba to qualify for the 2019 U23 AFCON tournament in Egypt.

Nigeria U23 qualified 5-1 on aggregate courtesy of a brace from Ndifreke Effiong and one each from Taiwo Awoniyi, Sunday Faleye and Ibrahim Sunusi.

With the Sudanese leading 1-0 on aggregate from the first leg of the encounter, the Olympic Eagles came out all guns blazing as Awoniyi opened the scoring in Asaba as early as the 8th minute.

Ndifreke then scored a brace in the space of 18mins to give the Olympic Eagles a comfortable 3-1 aggregate lead at half time.

After the restart, the boys continued from where they left off in the first period as substitute Faleye extended Nigeria’s lead within 3 mins of his introduction to make it four goals in favour of the home team.

The Olympic Eagles were however not done yet as Sunusi added a fifth goal two minutes later to wrap up a convincing win for the Nigerian side thus confirming their participation in the U23 AFCON tournament in Egypt come November.
