Nigerian referees, Grema Mohammed and Emmanuel Omada, have been listed among the match officials for the 2025 U17 WAFU-B Boys Tournament in Cote dÍvoire, www.aclsports.com reports.
Grema, a FIFA-badged centre referee, and Omada, who will serve as an assistant referee, are among a shortlist of 16 match officials, comprising eight referees and eight assistant referees, released by the organizers of the tournament, which also serves as qualifiers for the next Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The selection of the duo follows the participation of two other female referees in the recently concluded Women’s CAF WAFU-B Qualifiers in Cote d’Ivoire earlier this month.
Apart from the Nigerians, others listed include Ligan Aurore (Benin), Diero Hamidou (Burkina Faso), Senyo Kossi (Togo), Souley Sani (Niger), Theophilus Aberenga (Ghana) and a host of others. In addition, Grema and Omada have already been listed for the second game of the tournament between Togo and Ghana.
The WAFU Zone B U17 Championship will run from September 20 to October 3, 2025, in the city of Yamoussoukro. The finalists will represent the zone at the AFCON in Morocco next year.
