Track And Field Coaches Association Of Nigeria (TAFCAN) will on Thursday hold fresh elections in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

One of the top candidates in Thursday’s TAFCAN elections, is Assistant Superintendent (ASP), Solomon Aliyu who is seeking to be the President of the Coaches’ body and will face tough competition from outgoing President, Gabriel Okon and Peter Ogolo, an athletics coach at the Federal University of Technology, Akure.

Aliyu who specializes in the Sprints and Hurdles has an IAAF level III coaching certification. With several medals to his name during his active days on the track as an athlete, Aliyu is also doing well for himself, the Police Force and the country since turning to be a coach over twenty years ago.

Aliyu has been with Team Nigeria to several international competitions including; two Olympic Games in London and Rio as well as the World Championship in Beijing China.
