African champions Nigeria’s Super Falcons have named a 23-player squad for next month’s international friendlies against Senegal, with Asisat Oshoala among the key returnees, alongside Blessing Nkor, Rofiat Imuran and Toni Payne, www.aclsports.com reports.
Head coach Justine Madugu has recalled six-time African Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala, with Belarus-based Blessing Nkor and WSL duo Toni Payne and Rofiat Imuran also returning as the Super Falcons step up preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade and goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie are also named, alongside Christy Ucheibe, Halimatu Ayinde, Shukurat Oladipo, who was named Best Defender in Italy’s Serie A Women this season, and Rinsola Babajide, following title-winning campaigns.
Defender Ashleigh Plumptre remains sidelined after surgery, while WAFCON 2024 MVP Esther Okoronkwo is also out due to injury. Deborah Abiodun has returned from injury but is yet to regain regular playing time.
The two friendlies will be played on 5 and 8 June at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State.
