Super Falcons midfielder Christy Ucheibe has officially left SL Benfica following the expiry of her contract, bringing her six years with the Portuguese club to an end, www.aclsports.com reports.
The Nigerian joined Benfica in February 2020 and quickly became an important member of the squad, playing a key role during one of the club’s most successful eras. She made 179 appearances, scoring 11 goals and providing 11 assists across all competitions.
During her time in Lisbon, the 25-year-old was part of Benfica’s historic run of six consecutive Liga BPI titles, helping the team establish dominance in Portuguese women’s football. Her contributions also helped the club secure several other major honours, including five Taça da Liga trophies, two Taça de Portugal crowns, and two Supertaça titles.
Known for her defensive solidity, physical presence, and work rate, Ucheibe became a consistent performer for Benfica. The club acknowledged her contribution and thanked the Nigerian international for her dedication and impact throughout her time in Portugal.
Ucheibe now begins the next chapter of her career as one of Nigeria’s most established midfielders.
