Nigeria international, Ogenyi Onazi’s dreams of playing in England has been dealt a huge blow after it emerged that he has been denied a work permit.

Onazi had agreed terms with championship side, Birmingham City ahead of a potential move from Turkish outfit, Trabzonspor, according to a BBC report.

However, having had his application rejected by the FA last week, the latest blow comes after an appeal by Birmingham was also rejected on Wednesday despite the fact the 24-year-old has been a constant feature in the national side, Super Eagles.

According to the report, despite featuring 38 times for his country, the former Lazio star won’t be granted a permit as a result of Nigeria’s poor performance in recent times, which has seen her miss out on the last two AFCON tournaments.

This has affected the country’s global ranking, having finished 54th on aggregate over the last two years.

Onazi was part of the Super Eagles team that fell 0-2 at home to South Africa in the first match of the 2019 AFCON qualifiers.
