Reigning squash doubles champion, Loveth Balogun has pledged to defend her title at the 2025 National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.

In an interview with www.aclsports.com, Balogun expressed confidence in her ability to replicate last year’s gold-winning performance, despite the fierce competition from her rivals.

She credited Coach Bilikis Suleiman-Mogaji for helping her develop a strong mindset through challenging training programs that fostered a winning mentality.

Balogun said, “I am determined to win the title again this year. I know many players will be aiming to upstage me, but I am more focused than ever on retaining my title.

“My coach, Bilikis Suleiman-Mogaji, always reminds me to believe in myself and eliminate the word ‘impossible’ from my vocabulary. When I first began my squash journey, I thought she didn’t like me because of her tough training programs. But over time, I realized that consistency in training made me fitter and more prepared for competition.”

She also praised the Kwara State Sports Commission, under the leadership of Mallam Bolakale Mogaji, for prioritizing the development of young players.

She commended Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for constructing world-class squash courts that have enhanced the state’s sporting infrastructure.

“Thanks to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Kwara State now boasts squash courts where over 20 players can train together without any hindrances. Mallam Bolakale Mogaji, the Executive Chairman of Kwara State Sports Commission, is always supportive, encouraging younger players to give their best. He believes in hard work and dedication, not relying on buying players,” she said.

The promising squash star also acknowledged her mother, Joke Balogun, as her biggest supporter, expressing gratitude for her unwavering encouragement throughout her career.

“My mother has always been my pillar of support. She has been there for me through every challenge, always reminding me to stay focused and keep pushing forward.

“Her belief in me motivates me to continue working hard and striving for success. She’s not just my mother, but my number one fan. Without her support, I wouldn’t be where I am today”, she added
