Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Monday began training for Friday’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifying match against the Lone Stars of Liberia in Lagos, www.aclsports.com reports.

Team’s head coach Gernot Rohr, assisted by former Nigerian captain Joseph Yobo led out fifteen players for a light training session on Monday evening within the premises of their Eko Hotels and Suites abode.

Team captain Ahmed Musa and his close pal Abdullahi Shehu arrived on time to meet up with thirteen other players that had arrived by Monday afternoon in the evening training session.

Some of the earliest arrivals in camp were England based quarter Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi and Oghenekaro Etebo while Abia Warriors defender Adekunle Adeleke, South Africa based Daniel Akpeyi and first time invited Kingsley Michael.

Super Eagles gym and outdoor training session today (Monday).

15 players were part of the light training session this evening.

More players expected tonight.

First training session at the Teslim Balogun Stadium scheduled for Tomorrow (Tuesday).

The number of players in camp increased further after the evening session with the arrival of nine more players including Watford defender William Troost-Ekong, Rangers stalwart Leon Balogun and Italy based full backs Ola Aina and Tyronne Ebuehi.

The team will have a feel of the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Tuesday evening as they continue preparations ahead of the game billed to kickoff at 5pm Nigerian time on Friday.

Nigeria vs Liberia is the Super Eagles’ first group game as the race to qualify for next year’s World Cup in Qatar gets underway across the globe. After Friday’s game, the Super Eagles will travel to Cape Verde for their second group game on Tuesday.
