Holders Rivers Angels and NWFL Premiership champions Edo Queens have been knocked out of the 2026 Women’s President Federation Cup quarter-finals, www.aclsports.com reports.

Rivers Angels’ title defence came to an end after a narrow 1-0 defeat to FC Robo Queens at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin. Opeyemi Ajakaye scored the decisive goal in the 39th minute to send the defending champions out of the competition.

Newly crowned NWFL Premiership champions Edo Queens were also eliminated after a penalty shootout defeat to 2019 champions Nasarawa Amazons. The match ended goalless in regulation time before Nasarawa triumphed 5-3 on penalties in Ayingba, Kogi State.

Heartland Queens booked their place in the semi-finals after a dramatic 2-2 draw with Ibom Angels that went to penalties. Heartland took the lead through Chimebere Opara in the 12th minute and doubled it via Umejiaku Oluebube in the 51st minute. However, Ibom Angels fought back with goals from Miriam Okocha in the 66th minute and Happiness Agboye in the 76th minute to level the contest and force a shootout. Heartland then held their nerve to win 4-2 on penalties and secure a place in the final four.

Sunshine Queens, 2018 champions, sealed their semi-final spot with a 1-0 win over Confluence Queens. Owoseni Oluwabulola’s early strike in the 11th minute proved decisive as they progressed to the last four.

FC Robo Queens will face Heartland Queens in the first semi-final, while Sunshine Queens take on Nasarawa Amazons in the second semi-final of the competition.

The final of the 2026 President Federation Cup, both men’s and women’s editions, will be played on 11 July at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
