Former Super Falcons goalkeeper Precious Dede has been named Women’s football development manager for the West Africa Football Union Zone B (WAFU-B), www.aclsports.com reports.
Dede, who earned nearly 100 caps for Nigeria and captained the Super Falcons, is widely regarded as one of the continent’s most accomplished goalkeepers. A two-time African Women’s Championship (now known as WAFCON) winner, she represented Nigeria at four FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments and three Olympic Games. She also currently serves as Assistant Coach of the Nigeria U-17 Women’s national team, the Flamingos.
She steps into the role as WAFU-B ramps up its long-term development agenda and refines its women’s football strategy for the next competitive cycle.
In this position, Dede will oversee the broadening of grassroots pathways, the elevation of technical development, support for capacity-building efforts, and the shaping of competition models across the WAFU-B region.
WAFU-B confirmed that her tenure begins immediately, noting that her elite-level experience and leadership qualities make her a strong fit for a role central to the region’s development agenda.
Her appointment marks another significant moment for Nigerian football, highlighting the country’s growing influence in shaping technical and administrative roles across African football.
