Newly signed Perfumerias Avenida Center player Evelyn Akhator wants to make the best out of her time in Spain when the new campaign tips off later this year.

Salamanca as they are fondly called, signed the D’Tigress star from Besiktas, Turkey earlier this week hoping to challenge for the Euro League 2019/2020 season.

Akhator expressed her excitement while chatting with www.aclsports.com from her base in the US on Wednesday.

The former Besiktas Centre said moving to Spain is an upgrade from where she was last season and would make every moment count when she joins in September.

“It is an exciting one for me because it is an upgrade. I played Eurocup in Turkey and now I am moving up to Euroleague which is the best FIBA league in the world for both male and female. Also, Spain is very competitive and I believe moving to Spain is going to better my game.”

“My number one expectation is to get better. The team is a post-oriented team which is a good one considering the fact that I’m a post player. However, I’m expecting to get better and also join the team in winning championships.

“Salamanca and Girona go head to head in the championship game, so I expect to help bring the championship back to Salamanca,” Akhator added.

The 2018 Nigerian Sports Awards Sports Woman of the year said she will make the best out of it by having fun all through her stay in Spain.

“My main goal is to have fun, with that, I can be able to accomplish every other goals. Basketball is fun when you’re around the right set of people and right state of mind.

Akhator also shared great memories from Turkey and how Besiktas performed in the EuroCup.

“It was a great experience playing in Turkey. I got to meet few nice people, made friends and I was happy playing in Turkey. There were little challenges here and there but I’m happy I had the experience in Turkey because it prepared me for the future.”

“We did good as a team, it wasn’t where we wanted the season to end but I’m proud of where we stopped. We lost at the quarter final,” she concluded.
