Oyinlomo Quadre claims maiden CBN Open title

Nigeria teenage sensation, Oyinlomo Quadre outclassed 2-time champion, Christie Agugbom in straight sets to claim her first CBN Open title in Abuja.

Quadre took just 40 minutes to despatch her more experienced opponent, 36 year old Agugbom 6-1, 6-0.

The 16 year old who didn’t not drop a set in the entire tournament pocketed N700,000 following this victory.

Prior to the final, Quadre had beaten top opponents like Serena Teluwo, Osariemen Airhunwhunde, Blessing Anuna, including her quarter final win against number one seed and tournament favourite Blessing Samuel in straight sets.

Quadre also partnered with Mary Tenu-Michael to clinch the women’s doubles title.

The 16-year-old, who was given a wildcard to compete at the event, trains at the High Performance Centre in Casablanca, Morocco,

Meanwhile, Nigeria number one tennis player, Sylvester Emmanuel defeated 6-time champion Abdulmumin Babalola in straight sets to retain the Men’ Singles title at the CBN Senior Open.

Emmanuel beat his 34 year old opponent 6-4, 6-4 to become the seventh man to defend his title since it’s inception in 1979.
