Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has already started to win personal accolades, ACLSports can confirm.

Your Sports Memo reports that the young shot-stopper has been named the player of the season for his Dutch club, Sparta Rotterdam.

Rotterdam revealed this via a post on their official social media pages after Okoye received his award on Wednesday morning.

The award came after fans of the club voted overwhelmingly for the 21-year-old following an outstanding 2020/21 season.  He featured 28 times for the club in the Eredivisie last season, keeping 10 clean sheets.

Speaking on the award, the excited Okoye had this to say;

“(I am) happy to have been voted as your player of the season,” an elated Maduka Okoye posted on his social media page.

He has since returned to the club for preseason ahead of the 2021/22 season.
