Nigerian forward Esther Okoronkwo has been named AFC Toronto’s Player of the Month for September, www.aclsports.com reports.

The 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final Player of the Match produced a string of outstanding performances throughout the month, scoring four goals and providing two assists across four matches for the Canadian side.

Okoronkwo scored against Halifax Tides FC, two goals and an assist against Vancouver Rise FC, struck again versus Halifax Tides FC, and set up a goal against Ottawa Rapid FC, directly contributing to six goals in September. Her finishing, creativity, and work rate have made her vital to AFC Toronto’s attack.

Since joining in February this year, the 28-year-old has grown in influence with every game, and this award is a deserved recognition of her consistency and impact. With her in this form, AFC Toronto will be confident heading into the playoffs, aiming to win the Northern Super League.
