D’Tigress forward, Amy Okonkwo, continued her bright start in the WNBA, coming off the bench to score 12 points in her second game for the Dallas Wings on Sunday, www.aclsports.com reports.
She added three rebounds, two assists, and a steal in 17 minutes, shooting 62 percent from the field and knocking down two of her three attempts from beyond the arc.
Despite her effort, the Wings fell 90–81 to the Golden State Valkyries, extending their losing streak to five games. Maddy Siegrist led Dallas with 16 points, while Haley Jones and Myisha Hines-Allen chipped in 15 apiece, and Grace Berger finished with 11.
No. 1 overall pick Paige Bueckers contributed nine points and nine assists but saw her run of 30 straight double-digit scoring games come to an end.
Golden State was powered by Veronica Burton’s 25 points and 13 assists, alongside Iliana Rupert with 17 points, Kaila Charles with 16, and Kate Martin adding 12 off the bench.
Okonkwo, signed last week on a seven-day hardship contract set to expire Wednesday, said her mindset is straightforward: “Just play hard, give my energy and do what my team asks of me. Our focus is defense, getting stops, and running our pace together.”
With 20 points across her first two games, Okonkwo is making a strong case to stay in the league, leaving Dallas with a decision to make once her short-term deal expires.
