Nigeria’s Amy Okonkwo impressed in her first-ever WNBA start, scoring 12 points as the Dallas Wings fell 96–71 to the Minnesota Lynx on Monday, www.aclsports.com reports.

Starting alongside Paige Bueckers, Maddy Siegrist, Myisha Hines-Allen, and Grace Berger for the first time this season, Okonkwo made her presence felt, adding four rebounds, an assist, and three steals.

The Wings opened with a four-point lead before Minnesota responded with an 11–3 run. Siegrist led Dallas with eight points in the opening quarter, while Okonkwo contributed five points and two rebounds, converting 3-of-4 free throws.

“She’s just really smart, she’s a high-IQ player, aggressive and fearless. For her to take advantage of this opportunity is great to see,” Bueckers said of Okonkwo.

Coach Chris Koclanes also praised her, noting, “Her fearlessness right away, her coachability, and the way she’s contributed both on and off the floor have made her a fantastic addition.”

Despite her strong showing, Dallas fell behind as Minnesota maintained control. Bueckers led Dallas with 17 points, joined in double figures by Siegrist and Diamond Miller with 12 each. The Lynx were powered by Napheesa Collier’s 25 points, Natisha Hiedeman’s 25-point, 10-assist double-double, Courtney Williams’ 16, and Jessica Shepard’s eight. Minnesota shot 55% from the field and 58% from beyond the arc.

The Wings continue their road trip with a game against the Golden State Valkyries on September 4, followed by a visit to face the Los Angeles Sparks.
