Turkish Süper Lig side, Beşiktaş, have officially confirmed the signing of Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi from English side Leicester City, www.aclsports.com reports.
The club, which had earlier confirmed the arrival of the Nigerian defender in Turkey to continue negotiations over a possible signing, have now disclosed that an agreement had been reached with both Leicester City and the player.
Former Genk midfielder Ndidi has signed a three-year contract with an option for an additional year with Beşiktaş, ending his eight-year stint with the Foxes. The Black Eagles also revealed that the total transfer fee paid to Leicester City is €8 million.
“An agreement has been reached with the club and the player regarding the transfer of professional footballer Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi. A 3+1-year contract has been signed with the player. A total transfer fee of €8,000,000 will be paid to Leicester City Football Club Limited,” a statement on the club’s website read.
The Nigerian star underwent his medical tests in Istanbul earlier this week, but the official announcement was postponed as the club focused on the UEFA Europa Conference League assignment before them.
Ndidi becomes the latest Super Eagles player to move to the Turkish Süper Lig after Victor Osimhen recently completed a historic €75 million permanent move to Galatasaray. Ibrahim Olawoyin of Rizespor is also another Nigerian in the Turkish topflight this season.
