Matchday two of the NWFL Premiership Super 6 saw FC Robo and Sunshine Queens earn their first win of the tournament to go level on points with Delta Queens who played out a goalless draw with Rivers Angels.

FC Robo defeated Bayelsa Queen 2-0 on Tuesday at the ongoing Nigeria Women Football League Super 6 tournament which began on Monday in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. Two first half goals from Lawal Taiwo and the ever impressive Monday Gift ensured that Osahon’s ladies secured all three points to go top of the table on goals difference. The second half  failed to produce goals for either side and with this win, FC Robo are now top with four points and two goals having played a 1-1 draw with Rivers Angels in the tournament opener.

In the same vein, Sunshine Queens who played a 1-1 draw with Bayelsa Queens on Monday, recorded their first win with a 2-1 victory over Edo Queens on Tuesday. It was a goal rush in this fixture as all three goals came in the first 22 minutes of the match.

Suliat Abiodun gave Sunshine Queens an early lead in the 8th minute before Elizabeth Zirike levelled the score 12 minutes later. Sunday Abigail then wrapped up the scoring in hew 22nd minute to hand Sunshine Queens all three points.

The final fixture of the day was between Delta Queens and reigning champions, Rivers Angels. Again Rivers Angels failed to find the cutting edge needed to take all three points as both sides settled for a point each. Despite the chances created, both teams lacked the cutting edge with Alice Ogebe also missing a penalty in the 73rd minute which might have handed Rivers the win.

With this result, Delta Queens stay level on point with FC Robo and Sunshine Queens as leaders after two games. Rivers Angels on the other hand stay fourth with two points from two games while Bayelsa and Edo Queens remain in 5th and 6th positions respectively.

Wednesday has been scheduled as rest day as action returns on Thursday morning.
