The hosts have started the season as they ended the last, top of the league table, having won three of their four games so far, losing the other.

For the visitors, MFM, two wins and two losses in four means they already are chasing the champions and currently find themselves at the wrong end of the table, 13th on six points.

Plateau will be looking to not only maintain but strengthen their position at the top, while the side managed by the youthful Fidelis llechukwu would do well to avoid falling further behind the home side, who already lead them by three points going into the game today.

Elsewhere in the league, the Yakubu Gowon stadium in Port Harcourt will be hosting another top tie this weekend when Rivers United welcome the giants from Aba, two-time Champions League winners, Enyimba in what’s sure to be a titanic battle.

And on Sunday, it’s a Northern affair when El-Kanemi Warriors battle former champions, Kano Pillars, in Maiduguri.
