Remo Stars have reached an agreement with former Enyimba head coach Usman Abd’Allah to take charge of the team until the end of the season as they battle to avoid relegation in the Nigeria Premier Football League, www.aclsports.com reports.
Abd’Allah, who last managed Benin club USCN Cavaliers until last month, will now be in charge of the NPFL champions until the end of the 2025/26 campaign. Abd’Allah brings a wealth of experience, having earned his UEFA Pro Licence Certification. He also has advanced degrees in football coaching and team management from Le CREPS de Montpellier, France.
Since before the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, erstwhile head coach Daniel Ogunmodede had been away, leaving his assistant, Sulaiman Kamil, to oversee the team in an interim capacity. However, long after the tournament concluded, Ogunmodede has yet to return to the dugout.
Although the club has been about the future of Daniel Ogunmodede, sources informed www.aclsports.com that Ijaball‘s time at the Ikenne club might be over. A recent effort to resolve the impasse reportedly failed, with the club’s hierarchy standing firm on their position.
In a bid to salvage their season and steer clear of relegation, the club has now placed its trust in the former NPFL title-winning tactician, hoping his experience can spark a late resurgence.
The Sky Blue Stars have endured a torrid campaign and currently sit 19th on the log, five points adrift of safety with 11 matches left to play.
The former Kano Pillars head coach’s immediate task will be to return the People’s Elephant to winning ways when they face Katsina United this Sunday in their match day 28 fixture.
