Sudanese side Al Ahly Wad Madani have unveiled Nigerian tactician Aliyu Zubair as the club’s new head coach, www.aclsports.com reports.
Zubair, who recently signed a two-year contract with the club, takes charge following his departure from Egyptian second-tier side Telecom SC.
The unveiling ceremony took place in Kigali, Rwanda, where the Sudanese club is currently holding its preparations ahead of its CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
Speaking during his unveiling on Friday, Zubair expressed his delight at taking charge of the historic Sudanese club and acknowledged the magnitude of the task ahead.
“Al Ahly Madani is another huge challenge for me. It is a great club with rich history and high ambitions,” Zubair said.
“I am looking forward to working with the players, the management and the fans to achieve our objectives, especially as the team prepare to compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.”
With the technical team now led by the Nigerian tactician, attention will turn to the club’s final preparations in Kigali before the CAF Confederation Cup campaign gets underway.
His immediate challenge will be the CAF Confederation Cup, with Al Ahly set to face Kenyan side Tusker in the first preliminary round.
Zubair previously managed Gombe United and Elkanemi Warriors, where he led them to the Federation Cup triumph in 2024.
