Plateau United of Jos and Wikki Tourists of Bauchi continued to set the pace early on in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) 2019/20 season as both sides secured away wins on Match Day 2 (MD2) on Sunday.

United and Wikki won their opening league games at home last weekend and followed the performances with impressive 0-1 wins at Jigawa Golden Stars and Nasarawa United respectively.

Nenrot Silas scored his second goal in as many games to give Abdu Maikaba’s Plateau United the win at Jigawa’s adopted home ground in Kano while Sixtus Forsah’s second half goal gave Wikki full marks in Lafia.

It was really a day of draws in the league as only Lobi Stars recorded a home win out  of the eight matches decided. Forwards Sikiru Alimi, Abdulkareem Mumuni were on target for Gbenga Ogunbote’s side in their 4-0 demolition of Delta Force at the Aper Aku Stadium.

Rivers United scored through a controversial late penalty converted by Bakary Bamba to deny Heartland an away win after homeboy Christian Pyagbara had given Heartland the lead in the first half in Port Harcourt.

In Lagos, Kabiru Adeniji scored his first goal of the season for MFM, his 37th minute header cancelling out Samson Nnaji’s 6th minute strike for FC Ifeanyiubah.
