Newly promoted Dakkada FC (formerly Akwa Starlets) on Sunday beat defending champions Enyimba 2-1 to climb to second spot on the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table on a day Plateau United soared higher with a 5-1 demolition of FC Ifeanyiubah.

Substitute Utibe Arit scored twice for Dakkada, either side of Victor Mbaoma’s well taken goal for the People’s Elephant. The defeat – Enyimba’s second in the league this term – meant they slip further behind league leaders Plateau United.

United strengthened their lead at the top of the table with a 5-1 annihilation of FC Ifeanyiubah at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday.

There were five different scorers for Abdu Maikaba’s side; Abba Umar, Nenrot Silas (his 3rd of the season), Ibrahim Mustapha, Bernard Ovoke and Tosin Omoyele netted while Ekene Awazie scored FC Ifeanyiubah’s consolation.

League’s top scorer Israel Abia scored again as Sunshine Stars recorded an impressive 3-0 away win in Gombe against Adamawa United while Christian Pyagbara netted the only goal from the penalty spot as Heartland beat Kwara United 0-1 in Ilorin.

Lobi Stars edged out Abia Warriors in Makurdi courtesy of Sikiru Alimi’s goal while Rivers United recorded a 2-0 win over Katsina United in Port Harcourt.
