With all the teams set to play in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) next season, all four conference winners – Sporting Lagos, Doma United, Ranchers Bees, and Inter Lagos – are in Ikenne to determine the overall winner of the exhausting long campaign.

Sporting Lagos and Ranchers Bees, who were the last set of teams to seal promotion to the top-flight, faced off in the first game of the day at the Remo Stars Stadium. It was a crunch encounter that was eventually decided by a first-half goal from Alex Leme.

The Tech Boys were basically on top for most periods of the game, and despite glaring misses from Aliyu Baba and Seun Akanji, they held on for all three points.

The script of Matchday 1 at the Remo Stars Stadium wasn’t written in ink, but in iron discipline. Two matches, two goals, two clean sheets. Symmetry in the standings, but a seismic shift in the momentum of the Super 4.#NNLSuper4 pic.twitter.com/te3ag7oVJX

In the night fixture between Doma United and Inter Lagos, the Savannah Scorpions also scored a first-half goal to claim all three points against the Lagosians. Fantami Yusuf’s 19th-minute strike settled the feisty game that had the two teams finish with ten men.

Hostilities will resume on Wednesday when Sporting Lagos face Doma United in the battle of the winners, while Ranchers Bees and Inter Lagos will be looking for their first points in the first game of the day.
