Fast-rising Stars Builders Academy started life in the Nigerian Nationwide League One (NLO1) division with a 4-3 win over Almar FC at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne on Saturday, www.aclsports.com reports.

A brace by Toheeb Lasisi and further goals from Ayodele Adeloye and Femi Adetula was enough to give the Ijebu Ode based team the maximum points on Match Day one.

Speaking to the media after the game, the Stars Builders Academy CEO, Ayodeji Adegbenro said it was a good win for his side against a more experienced side.

‘It was a good win for us against a more experienced side. This is our first season in NLO1 and Almar are more experienced than us at this level. We dominated the game, but they scored from the simple mistakes our defenders made due to their inexperience. I believe our coaches will correct these lapses before our next game,” he said.

Asked if the team will be gunning for a third successive promotion, Adegbenro believes it is a possibility.

‘We’ve had back to back promotions in the last two seasons to get here, getting promoted to the NNL might be a big task for us at the moment as we don’t have the funding required to compete at that level.

“However, we will take this season one game at a time and then see where we are at the end of the season,” he concluded.

Stars Builders Academy will play their second group game on Monday at the same venue against Atlanta Sports Club who also started their campaign with an opening day win.

Other Match Day 1 Results in Ikenne Centre:
