Nigerian players abroad, led by Asisat Oshoala, starred over the weekend, with the Al Hilal forward recording two goals and four assists, www.aclsports.com reports.
Six-time African Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala scored twice and provided four assists as Al Hilal thrashed Al Ahli 9–0 in the Saudi Women’s Premier League.
The Super Falcons forward set up four goals in the first half, assisting Manar Al-Anzi in the fourth minute and Al-Bandari Mubarak in the 20th, 22nd and 30th minutes. She then scored in the 45th minute before completing her brace after the break. Fellow Nigerian Christy Ucheibe also featured as Al Hilal secured their first league win of the season.
Ashleigh Plumptre was also on target in Saudi Arabia as Al Ittihad defeated Al Nassr 4–2. The Super Falcons defender opened the scoring from the penalty spot as Al Ittihad made it two wins from two in the league.
In the Turkish Women’s Super League, Suliat Abideen came off the bench in the 57th minute to score in Fenerbahçe’s 3–0 victory over Beşiktaş. The Nigerian scored the third goal in the 84th minute, with compatriot Regina Otu providing the assist, as Fenerbahçe maintained their perfect start to the season.
Ayatsea Hembafan then rescued a point for Kayseri KFK, scoring a stoppage-time equaliser in their 1–1 draw away to Yüksekovaspor. Princella Adubea had given the hosts the lead in the 70th minute, but Hembafan struck in the fourth minute of added time to level the score.
