Nigerian players abroad impressed over the weekend, with Olamide Bolaji scoring a hat-trick and Joy Omewa netting a brace for their respective clubs, www.aclsports.com reports.
Olamide Bolaji found the net three times as Al-Shams edged Eastern Flames 5–4 in the Saudi Women’s First Division. The Super Falcons forward struck in the 45+2, 47th and 88th minutes to take her tally to five goals in three appearances this season.
Joy Omewa scored twice in her first home start for BK Häcken as they thrashed IK Uppsala 9–0 in the OBOS Damallsvenskan. The striker opened the scoring in the 10th minute after being set up by Thelma Pálmadóttir, before doubling her tally seven minutes later with a header. The brace takes her to three goals since joining the Swedish club this summer.
In France, Jennifer Echegini and Rasheedat Ajibade were both on target as PSG defeated Fleury 3–1 in the Arkema Première Ligue. Echegini scored her first league goal of the season with a fine looping header in the 36th minute, before Ajibade capitalised on a mix-up in the Fleury defence to score in the 58th minute. Ajibade has now scored in back-to-back appearances for PSG, taking her tally to four goals across all competitions.
On Thursday, six-time African Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala registered her seventh assist of the Saudi Women’s Premier League season as Al-Hilal defeated Al-Ula 3–1. Oshoala came off the bench, replacing fellow Nigerian Christy Ucheibe in the 66th minute, and provided the assist for Al-Hilal’s third goal. She has now recorded at least one goal contribution in all four of her league appearances this season, with four goals and seven assists.
