Akwa Ibom and Ekiti states won gold medals in the boys’ and girls’ Judo event at the ongoing National Youth Games in Ilorin, Kwara state.

In the boy’s 36kg, Ubong Bassey (Akwa Ibom) won gold, Uwanne Chukwuemeka (Delta state) settled for silver while Chidiebube Ogunedo (Abia state) and Shawn Julius (Bayelsa) won bronze medals apiece.

In the girls 32kg, Boluwatife Akinsola (Ekiti) won gold, Newlucky Job gave Bayelsa state silver while Favour Oyemidu (Rivers state) and Miracle Ezedu (Bauchi) won bronze medals.

The Judo event continues tomorrow with the 42kg boys and 44kg girls categories.

Joy Ihe (Sokoto) and Ebikifuna Tarilayeta (Bayelsa) won gold medals in the 42kg and 54kg of the wrestling events.

Silver: Helen Peter (Delta)

Bronze: Joy James (Rivers)

Bronze: Favour Onyiye (Lagos)

54kg girls

Gold: Ebikifuna Tarilayeta (Bayelsa)

Silver: Precillia Itodo (Kogi)

Bronze: Rhoda Augustine (Akwa Ibom)

Bronze: Deborah Sati (Plateau)

Bayelsa state leads the medal table with a total of three medals: 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze. Bayelsa is closely followed by Awka Ibom with one gold and one silver. In third position is Delta state with 2 silver medals.
