After finally opening his account for his new club, MFM FC new signing Michael Ohanu aims to deliver more goals in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) for the Lagos-based team this season.

Ohanu scored MFM’s equaliser and his first goal of the season in a 3-2 comeback win over Niger Tornadoes last week at the Agege Soccer Temple. Speaking to ACLSports after training on Tuesday morning the former Kwara United striker revealed how much of a relief the goal was for him.

“Not scoring game after game before the goal in the game against Tornadoes, I was obviously under pressure but I tried to put in the work and calm my nerves and I’m glad to have opened my account for the club,” Ohanu said with a smile.

For a striker, delivering the goods when fielded is always a morale booster. Little wonder Ohanu looked really sharp in training and also scored a goal for his side. On whether the goal in training is a sign of things to come in Wednesday’s South West derby against Sunshine Stars of Akure Ohanu said: “Yes, that is my aim now. I need to be scoring and that is my target for tomorrow’s match. I need to score goals.”

The MFM FC striker then went to speak on what everyone should expect from the team in Wednesday’s game. “Sunshine Stars are a good side and when we played them during the pre-season they played really well and they also have a good team. However, we have also worked very hard in training and all we have to do now is put our heads together and come out with the three points.”

MFM FC welcome Sunshine Stars of Akure to the Agege Soccer Temple on Wednesday evening as a win will ensure that they maintain top spot in Group A.
