Nigeria Super Falcons thrashed Comoros 5–0 in the second leg of their second-round qualifier for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics to advance to the third round on Tuesday, www.aclsports.com reports.
The Super Falcons scored once in the first half before adding four more goals after the break to secure a 7–0 aggregate victory over Comoros at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.
Interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen named an unchanged starting line-up from the first leg, with Chiamaka Nnadozie in goal and Joy Igbokwe making her second start for the Super Falcons. Jennifer Echegini, Gift Monday and captain Rasheedat Ajibade also retained their places in the starting XI.
Nigeria created early chances, with Gift Monday missing a clear opportunity before Uchenna Kanu twice hit the crossbar. Captain Ajibade was stretchered off with an injury in the 23rd minute and replaced by Folashade Ijamilusi.
The hosts broke the deadlock in the 41st minute when a costly error by Comoros goalkeeper Aicha Said allowed Kanu to set up Toni Payne, who fired home to give Nigeria a 1–0 half-time lead and a 3–0 aggregate advantage.
Eguavoen introduced Blessing Okpe for Gift Monday at half-time, and Nigeria extended their lead through Kanu’s header in the 56th minute before Payne scored her second six minutes later following an impressive run from Okpe.
Kanu completed her brace in the 67th minute with another header from Ijamilusi’s cross, while Christy Ucheibe converted a penalty in the 72nd minute after Okpe was fouled to make it 5–0.
Shakirat Moshood and Solaty Fatimoh made their senior national team debuts after coming on alongside Suliat Abideen, as Nigeria advanced to the third round, where they will face Morocco in their bid to qualify for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
