Kogi, Ondo, Edo, 8 others yet to register for 2017 National Youth Games

11 states including Kogi and Edo are yet to register for the 2017 National Youth Games in iIorin to be hosted by the University of Ilorin (Unilorin) from 7th to 17th September, 2017.

26 states have already indicated their interest to be at the 3rd NYG which is expected to provide opportunities for the selection of athletes who will represent Nigeria at the World Youth Games.

Anambra, Bayelsa, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, Kogi, Ondo, Sokoto, Taraba, Zamfara and the FCT are states yet to register.

ACLSports.com gathered that the total entry of athletes so far received  is 2,522 consisting of 1,418 male and 1,104 female.

The state with the highest number of athletes is Kwara State with 184, followed by Lagos and Bauchi states with 179 and 152 respectively.

Delta State registered 144 athletes, Rivers state, 138 and Plateau State, 137.

Others are; Oyo state (125), Akwa Ibom (109), Benue State (107), Kaduna (98) and Imo state (97).

Delta State emerged winner of the 2nd National Youth Games with a total of 26 medals, made up of nine gold, seven silver and 10 bronze to beat Team Ogun to the second position.
