Over 300 Judokas are expected to participate at 2021 National Open Judo Championships (for men and women) in Ibadan.

The National Open Judo Championships is scheduled for 15th to 20th July, 2021 in Ibadan, Oyo state. The judokas would be drawn from Abuja, the thirty-six states of the federation, the military and the paramilitary services.

The championship which is sanctioned by the Nigeria Judo Federation is single-handedly sponsored by one time vice president of the federation, Dr. Musa Oshodi.

Oshodi, who is also the chairman of the Oyo State Judo Association said everything had been put in place for a memorable experience by judokas, coaches and referees.

According to the schedule of events, a refresher course would run for the first two days before the competition proper. The course will see referees, coaches and judokas return to the classroom.

Stakeholders have christened the championship “the revival of judo” as it is coming up after a drought of activities in the martial art.
