Newly crowned Aiteo Cup kings Kano Pillars are scheduled to arrive back home in Kano on Monday ahead of their Total CAF Champions League (CAFCL) preliminary round clash with Ghanaian side Asante Kotoko on Saturday, reports www.aclsports.com

Pillars defeated Niger Tornadoes on penalties last Sunday to win the 2019 Aiteo Cup and have since stayed back in Kaduna to perfect their strategy for Saturday’s game which will mark their return to the continent after four years.

The Sai Masu Gida, as Pillars are known will now arrive at their base on Monday and will do a mini-trophy parade to exhibit their Aiteo Cup trophy round the city of Kano same day.

The team which won their first piece of silverware since 2014 will then be hosted by the Kano State governor Umar Ganduje in a banquet at the Government House in Kano on Monday evening.

Pillars, led by head coach Ibrahim Musa are expected to resume full training on Tuesday morning in Kano. They have already beefed up their squad with the acquisition of at least five new players.

Some of the players are Abdullahi Musa (centre back), Nasiru Sani (left back), Musa Usman (Yobe Desert Stars), Samuel ‘Stone’ Onukwube (forward) and Chijioke Alaekwe (forward).

Pillars will host the first leg of the tie against Ghanaian champions Kotoko at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano on Saturday.
