Nigerian forward, Joy Omewa, scored a brace in Fortuna Hjørring’s thrilling 6–1 win against Kolding IF in the Danish Women’s League on Friday, www.aclsports.com reports.
The 22-year-old, who had a goal and an assist in Fortuna’s 2–0 victory over Odense Q last time out, took her tally to 11 goals for the season, extending her scoring run to five consecutive matches to help her side secure their fifth win of the campaign in Denmark.
Fortuna took the lead in the 13th minute through Sarah Hansen, but Kolding quickly equalised three minutes later when Sara Amby Kristensen struck. The visitors restored their advantage before halftime thanks to Tilde Johansson, going into the break 2–1 up.
The second half saw Fortuna take full control. Josefine Valvik Laursen (57’) and Florentina Olar (59’) extended the scoreline before Omewa stole the spotlight.
She converted a penalty in the 62nd minute with a cheeky panenka, and just four minutes later produced a moment of brilliance by lobbing the goalkeeper from near the centre circle after spotting her off her line. The forward was substituted in the 70th minute, having already secured the points for her side.
Omewa is showing no signs of slowing down after her prolific 2024/25 campaign, in which she netted 22 goals and lifted both the Danish league title and the Danish Cup.
