Morocco born coach, Hamid Abdellaoui has signed a four year deal with the Republic of the Congo Volleyball Federation. Abdellaoui who disclosed this to www.aclsports.com promised to transform volleyball in DR Congo.

He said DR Congo will become one of the strongest volleyball nations in the coming years.

Abdellaoui said, “For me, I have a contract with the DR Congo for four years and I began in July and I will prepare a lot of things for the country.

“I assure you that DR Congo will become a formidable team across Africa; we have the women U18 who are at the Youth Olympic Games in Argentina and this is a good sign of progress. Congo will be strong in the coming years”, he said.

He noted that Sub Sahara Africa must have an organised league if they intend competing with the North Africa teams.

Abdellaoui said Sub Sahara Africa do not have sparring partners whenever they intend attending championships.

“First, Africa must progress in organisation of tournaments. When you have good organisation, the standard of the game becomes high. I think if we continue with age grade tournaments, Africa will progress.

“There are two parts in Africa; North Africa and Sub Sahara Africa. The North Africans have better organisation because they have good condition to prepare for championships. In Sub Sahara Africa, we do not have sparring partner, good leagues, so this is our problem in Africa”, he said.
