In-form Nigerian midfielder Ibrahim Olawoyin scored the game’s closing goal as his Turkish Super Lig side Çaykur Rizespor recorded a 3-1 win over Alanyaspor on Sunday, www.aclsports.com reports.
Rizespor went into Sunday’s game at the back of their Turkish Cup elimination after local rivals Trabzonspor hammered them 5-2 on Wednesday in the absence of the rested Olawoyin but with the former Rangers International star restored into the starting XI, normalcy returned.
After a goalless first half, Algerian star Rachid Ghezzal gave Rizespor the lead early in the second half through a brilliant curler into the topmost corner from the edge of the box. The visitors however replied in the 65th minute when Andraz Sporar converted from the penalty spot.
Rizespor then restored their advantage six minutes later with Ghezzal turning provider this time for Gambian striker Ali Sowe who scored for a sixth league game in a row and now having scored seven goals in that period.
With the game nearing a pensive end, Olawoyin provided the insurance for Ilhan Palut’s men five minutes from time by arrowing into the bottom right after receiving a pass from substitute Berkay Ozcan.
It was Olawoyin’s fifth goal involvement in the last five league games and he will be hoping to further help his side finish strongly at the season ending run-in.
Rizespor are now provisionally placed eighth of the log and will face Antalyaspor next Saturday in Antalya.
