Dakkada FC’s impressive left back Imo Obot has told www.aclsports.com that his side are having a ‘positive mindset’ ahead of Wednesday’s Qua Iboe derby date with Akwa United.

Both sides, sponsored by the Akwa Ibom state government have seen their Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 30 clash brought forward to Wednesday in order to keep the integrity of the elite division.

Dakkada FC sit one position and one point ahead of their more illustrious city rivals and both teams go into Wednesday’s game at the back of goalless home draws on Wednesday. Obot says his team will play to get a result.

“It will be a difficult game but we are having a positive mindset,” says the set-piece specialist to www.aclsports.com

“We will be hoping to get something from the game. Akwa are a big side, they play with less pressure. They are a truly professional side but we are ready to do our best in the game,” added Obot.

Dakkada FC have been the surprise team of the 2019/20 NPFL season, churning out incredible results especially in away games.

The side coached by Caleb Esu boast of little known names and Obot says they have been inspired by wanting to make a name for themselves.

“It’s been God and serious hardwork,” replied Obot when asked what the secret had been.

“We are still playing with the same set of players from the NNL but we have this goal of aiming high and wanting to make our own name in the league,” explained Obot who has started 18 out of Dakkada’s 19 league games so far.

Dakkada FC vs Akwa United is one of three NPFL games scheduled to hold on Wednesday. Nigeria’s continental representatives Enyimba and Rangers will also be in action; the former facing Wikki Tourists in Aba while the latter welcome Jigawa Golden Stars in Enugu.
