Okwor told www.aclsports.com that he is equally looking forward to making his debut for the senior national team after a busy and fulfilling 2019 season.
He revealed that one of the most exciting moments of his career in 2019 is qualifying for the 2020 Prudent Energy Handball League.
“It is an honour for me and I am very happy for the call-up. I will learn a lot from the senior goalkeepers in the team and if am given the opportunity I will definitely give my best” says Obinna Okwor
“There are over 20 teams in the country excluding academies and more than 40 handball goalkeepers in Nigeria; it is not easy to make it into the National team so I am very happy for the invitation.
“The year 2019 was very fruitful and fulfilling for me because I attended the IHF Challenge Trophy in Kosovo winning silver medal to the IHF Men’s Youth World Championship in North Macedonia and eventually qualifying for the Prudent Energy Handball League after lifting the National Handball Division one league in Kaduna.
“I got offers from Premier League sides in 2018 and 2019 but some stakeholders in my club including the state chairman advised me to be patient that I will play in the topflight league within three years. Eventually, Confluence Stars will be among teams that will be playing for glory at the 2020 Prudent Energy Handball League”.
