He said, “I am happy to join KS Vive Kielce HC of Poland this season. It is not only  good news for me but the entire Handball family in Nigeria. I want to also thank our great President, Sam Ocheho for believing in me, he sees what I am not seeing and I promise to be a worthy ambassador of the federation and Nigeria.

An elated President of Handball Federation of Nigeria, Sam Ocheho said Farouk Yusuf move to KS Vive Kielce HC of Poland will open the door not only to Nigeria handball players but African players.

Ocheho said, “The move of Farouk Yusuf has surely opened the way for Nigerian youths and other African youth to play at the top level in a top European Club. Farouk Yusuf will be the first Nigerian to play for such a top club and in the Champions League. This we believe will be of immense benefit to the Nigerian National Handball Team

“I pray that Farouk makes good success of this move so that it can bring the world to the doorstep of Nigeria. I look forward to more Nigerians playing for top teams in Europe”.

Ocheho further said, “The team is coached by Talant Dujshebaev a former IHF World player of the year with two sons Alex and Daniel who both plays for the Spanish National team and also for KS VIve Kielce club.

“Dujshebaev was a great Center back in his playing days and played internationally for Russia and Spain also to the highest level. He has also coached Russia and Spanish National teams in His previous employment. Dujshebaev is an Olympic and World cup winner. He is very excited to work with Farouk Yusuf whom he sees as a great young talent.

Farouk Yusuf played for Sokoto U13, De Defenders, Confluence Stars, Lagos Seasiders and Montada HC of Morrocco.

He played at the 2018 and 2020 Prudent Energy Handball League, 2019 U18 World Handball Championship in Macedonia and was part of the Team Nigeria to the 2019 African Games in Morocco.

Farouk Yusuf won individual awards at the 2018 and 2020 Prudent Energy Handball League.

This will be Farouk Yusuf the second stint outside the country after playing for Montada HC of Morrocco in 2018/19.
