Guinea defeated Nigeria 23-20 at the ongoing 2023 African U18 Women’s Handball Nations Championship in Tunisia on Sunday.

The result means Nigeria U18 team has recorded one win and one loss with a game to spare on Monday.

Nigeria had a disappointing first half with a lot of turn over leaving room for the Guineans to steal possession. The Guinea players took their chances by converting goals, taking the first half by 13 to 8 goal.

Upon resumption of the second half, Nigeria produced excellent display of the game but the Guineans matched up the fire power of their opponents. Nigeria reduced the five goals deficit to two goals in the last 10 minutes but their opponents converted goals to increase the tally.

Guinea eventually won the game by 23 to 20 goals recording their first win of the championship. Nigeria defeated Guinea twice at the last IHF Women Trophy Africa Continental Phase in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

Nigeria takes on host Tunisia by 6:30pm on Monday in a crucial tie.
