Nigeria senior national team; the Super Eagles ended their excursion to European nation, Austria on Tuesday evening with another uninspiring performance in a 0-0 draw with Cameroon.
Gernot Rohr’s Eagles were facing their neighbours and arch-rivals Cameroon for the second time in five days in international friendly game at the Stadion Wiener Neustadt near Vienna.
Cameroon were by far the better side in the opening half and could have easily gone in front midway through the half but for Alex Iwobi who was at the right place at the right time to make a goal line clearance.
Cameroon eventually got the ball to the back of the net in first half stoppage time but the effort, after Maduka Okoye had spilled Choupo-Moting’s effort was chalked off for offside.
Lorient forward Terem Moffi came on at half time for the Super Eagles, in place of Paul Onuachu bad he missed a good chance after a lovely passage of play by the Super Eagles, scuffing his effort wide.
The Super Eagles became markedly better in the final quarter of an hour and Leicester forward Kelechi Iheanacho should really have done better when twice in decent positions inside the box.
Rohr’s men thus ended their two-game expedition against Cameroon without a goal in 180 minutes. The next time the team will regroup is for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in August. Nigeria will face Liberia on August 31 in their first group game before a trip to Cape Verde days later.
