Newly appointed head coach of Enyimba FC, Finidi George says he is ready to work to make the top Nigerian club excel during his time.

George, 50, was unveiled last week as the helmsman of the former African Champions. In a chat to the club’s official platform on Monday, Finidi thanked the club for the trust reposed in him and says he will work to bring out the best.

“On my own part, I will be here to just work and do the job. I know it’s not going to be easy but I’m here to work and make the team play better and win trophies,” said Finidi in his first major interview at the club.

Former Super Eagles star George played in some good football playing sides during his playing career. He was part of the swashbuckling Nigerian team that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1994 and the Ajax side that won the UEFA Champions League in 1995.

He hopes to replicate such success at Nigeria’s most successful club.

“We will try to play good football and win games. That is all that matters,” stressed Finish.

“Result, result, result. If you don’t have results, it doesn’t really matter what you do. So we’re here with my team so I’ll try to make sure that we pick the best and make sure that every player gets the opportunity to perform so that they will be motivated.”

Finidi’s first assignment comes up in the middle of October when Enyimba face Senegal’s Diambars in the first round of the Total Energies CAF Confederation Cup. His team are currently camping in Omoku, Rivers State ahead of the new season.
