The 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup, FIFAU20WC, continued on Saturday with two African teams, South Africa and Mali, recording disappointing results.

South Africa lost scandalously to Argentina following a 5-2 defeat at Tychy stadium.

Of the seven goals scored in the game, five arrived in the second half after the first half ended 1-1.

There were five different scorers for the South Americans while Keenan Philips and Lyle Fosters were the scorers for South Africa.

Mali held by Panama

In Bydgoszcz, the other African side, Mali, were denied all three points by a late Panama penalty.

In a match that saw both sides create little, Boubacar Konte put Mali ahead in the 20th minute.

However, with just five minutes left on the clock, Panama was awarded a penalty after Guillermo Benitez was fouled in the Malian box.

Valanta a stepped up to the plate to convert to ensure both sides shared the spoils in the opening game in Group E.

Elsewhere, Portugal defeated South Korea 1-0, while France saw off Saudi Arabia with a 2-0 win.
