World number one, Roger Federer beat Milos Raonic to win the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart on Sunday. The 36 year old beat Raonic 6-4 7-6 (7-3) in the final to win his 98th Tour title.

Federer who returned to the court after a three-and-a-half-month break, regained his number one spot with a semi-final victory over Nick Kyrgios on Saturday.

The win for the Swiss is a build-up to defending his Wimbledon crown, having extended his unbeaten 12-month sequence in grasscourt matches to 16.

He will next compete at Halle next week, aiming for a record 10th title, before Wimbledon begins on July 2.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion has won in Halle eight times in total and in four of the last five years. And a win would put him one away from becoming the second man to win 100 singles titles, behind Jimmy Connors on 109.
