Remo Stars midfielder Alex Oyowah has been drafted into the Super Eagles B camp, as the team continues to prepare for next month’s African Nations Championship (CHAN), www.aclsports.com has exclusively gathered.
Oyowah, who featured for Remo Stars in the 1-0 friendly loss to the CHAN team on Tuesday, stood out for the Nigeria Premier Football League champions in the keenly contested game at the training pitch of the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne.
Eric Chelle, visibly pleased with the performance of the former Rivers United player, has now decided to invite him to the national team camp. Chelle named a 35-man squad earlier this month, but only 28 players have been in camp since Monday, July 7th. This is the first time the French-Malian tactician will be calling up replacements for his squad.
A source close to the team also informed ACLSports that Remo Stars’ fleet-footed winger Jabbar Malik and midfielder Qudus Akanni have been handed invites. Due to the unfortunate injury to defender Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, the technical crew has also concluded plans to draft in Nigeria U20 skipper Daniel Bameyi after the conclusion of the WAFU B U20 tournament in Accra, Ghana.
The 2024 CHAN tournament will be staged in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda in August, with Nigeria’s Super Eagles facing Senegal, Sudan, and Congo in their group games.
