Super Falcons forward Joy Omewa was on target for her Danish side Fortuna Hjørring in their 4–3 defeat against Breiðablik Kopavogur in the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup on Wednesday, www.aclsports.com reports.

Omewa, who also scored in the first leg to give Fortuna a 1–0 advantage, netted her side’s second goal of the night in the 47th minute, finishing a precise through ball from Nikoline Nielsen.

Her strike put Fortuna 3–0 up on aggregate, and she was heavily involved throughout the match, creating several chances and forcing multiple saves from Breiðablik goalkeeper Herdís Gudbjartsdóttir.

However, Breiðablik mounted a spirited comeback, with goals from Barbára Sól Gísladóttir and Samantha Smith, while a late own goal from Sarah Hansen, four minutes after Omewa was substituted, sent the match into extra time.

In added time, Edith Kristjánsdóttir struck the winner for the Icelandic side, ending Fortuna Hjørring’s European campaign in heartbreak.

This was Omewa’s third goal in the Europa Cup, taking her European total to six, with three more in the UEFA Women’s Champions League playoffs and 18 in all competitions this season.
