Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho is the first player to arrive at the Super Eagles camp in Cairo, Egypt, as Eric Chelle‘s side begin preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, www.aclsports.com reports.
The Super Eagles will camp briefly in Egypt, where they will face the Pharaohs of Egypt in a practice match on December 16th before heading to Morocco, where the 35th AFCON will run from December 21 to January 18.
According to information from the team, the team’s training camp is based at the Renaissance Hotels in Cairo, Egypt, and it officially opened on Sunday, December 14, with players expected to arrive at camp after their club engagements over the weekend.
Uzoho, who reported to camp at around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, is joined by the rest of the coaches and backroom staff, who are already in Egypt and on ground to receive the players as they arrive.
Uzoho, 27, featured in the UEFA Europa Conference League match for Cypriot club Omonia Nicosia last Thursday, where he kept a clean sheet after an astounding performance.
The likes of Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Chidozie Awaziem, and Moses Simon are among the group of players expected to arrive early after featuring for their respective clubs on Friday and Saturday.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are in Group C of the AFCON tournament alongside Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda. Nigeria’s group opener is against Tanzania on December 23 in Fes.
