The head coach of Nigeria U19 volleyball team, Sani Mohammed assured that his team’s preparations for the 2021 Boys U19 African Nations Volleyball Championship were in top gear.

The 2021 Boys U19 African Nations Volleyball Championship is scheduled to be played from 1st to 9th March, 2021 in Abuja.

The former Niger Brass coach told www.aclsports.com after the team’s training session in Kaduna that all efforts were being made to ensure the team evolves as necessary.

He says that Nigeria hosting the championship will be a morale booster for the players.

Mohammed said, “We are preparing very well because it is a very crucial championship for the nation. If we do well at the Nations Cup, we stand a chance of qualifying for the 2021 FIVB World Championship for Youth Boys U19

“The players are working very hard on themselves with the help of the coaches because we cannot afford to miss this opportunity. The Nations Championship ought to take place in Madagascar but due to some challenges, the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) decided to give Nigeria the hosting right, this will definitely be a morale booster for us”.

The former Kada Kings coach acknowledged that the North African teams will pose a threat to the ambition of the team.

He said, “I am aware that the North African teams will seek revenge for what we did at the last African Youth Games where we won gold but we will not be deterred by the ambitions of the North Africans. We will play the games as they come and the players are ready to give their lives on the court of play”.

Meanwhile, Cameroun, Central Africa, Congo RDC, Egypt, Tunisia and Nigeria have confirmed their participation in the championship.
